I often do a swing by CL just to see if there is anything that I should know about....
I hit this.

That is a very nice looking coach, and I'm sure that he easily has that much invested. Unfortunately, I also agree that this may not be a realistic price these days.
Perhaps if he takes it to a Barrett-Jackson Auction.........

I think you are wrong about that one. The price does reflect the current economy in my mind. Like it or not--there are beautifull coaches out there that command that price in today's economy.

I thought I saw that one on their web site. Probably got a lot more than that into it. If I had a spare 28K right now I gustimate that would be a reasonable offer if it needs nothing.

I'm guessing that if I knew then what I know now when I bought my GMC that I'd not only have a nice coach but I'd also have a new toad for the $$ I've got in my coach and I'm not nearly done yet.
All I'd be missing is the countless hours of working on it.
Yes, education IS expensive.

As my mom used to say, "You can have one year's worth of experience 20
times, or 20 years worth of experience once, the choice is yours." Wise
woman, my mom. And with a 5th grade education to boot. She was born in
1906, and I graduated from high school at the age of 18 in 1948. She moved
to a community where there were adult education classes, and got her high
school diploma in 2 years of evening classes. No GED for her. That was in
1960 and if math serves me still, she was 54 years old. Her adult life
without kids started at that point. She then went to work for Jerry Frank
at Meier & Frank's, a regional department store that is now owned by the
May Company. When Jerry sold the store, she quit in protest, said that she
didn't want to work for a company that exported all the profit out of the
state. Smart woman, my mother. she always liked the looks of the GMC
motorhome, but could not afford one. Drove Chevy 6 cylinder cars all her
life.

At the asking price probably about half what they paid for it.
Sometimes I wonder if we talk the prices of our coaches down too much. Certainly the parts to rebuild one have gone up a lot in the last few years.

I think you have a point. Most on the forum are not newbies to the GMC world. Looking at it as I did from a total lack of knowledge of the GMC before ownership you have to remember what it was like to discover the GMC. When I discovered the GMC it was like I discovered a hidden treasure. I never knew of the forum, and all the loyal owners. All I saw was a coach I loved the design of. My coach was $14,000 (then of course it blew up) but I thought it was worth every dime when I bought it. Living in southern AZ I see every type of motorhome here all winter long. BORING, more BORING, super Boring....its all I see. Every once in awhile I see a cool different style but most are boxes that look like sticks of butter. What do you get for the $$$ people spend everyday on coaches compared to ours?
Sure from the stand point of size our 23/26 ft is smaller then what most winter visitors use here. But they also live mths and mths in theirs. Maybe not everyone sees the appeal of a GMC but for 2 people or a small family they are awesome. To me its worth driving something that simply looks different. Honestly if I had to do it all over again, I may buy a $30,000 GMC and just enjoy it instead of a daily routine of modifying it. But then again who knows its kinda fun. I wouldn't of had $30,000 to start with so my approach was better for me, slowly bankrupt myself till I may loose my house and have to live in it. But by the time that happens it will be almost done! lol

Admit it: You'd buy a $30K "complete" coach and then start modding it to
your own tastes... ;-)

When I was a kid my mom was always mad that every gift I'd get I'd take apart and modify.
My GMC is like my rolling fort. I get to rip stuff out with a hammer, then glue and tape things back in!

Yes.
Yes, 22k is a big number compared to the usual stock, but how many of those were frame off restos?
Taking the owner at his word that it was a frame off resto (and it looks like it was) 22k seems pretty cheap to me. The wisdom on the list is at least 25k to get a reliable runner.
There are a lot of $500 parts coaches that have been sold as ready to run units - mine included. After 25k, I doubt mine will look as good as this one.
What separates the high dollar coach from the rest is the attention to detail - matching upholstery & woodwork throughout, an attractive paint job, finished corners and cubbys, proper wiring, a dash that looks like it was built that way from the factory (not with 3 different style gauges hanging from odd places).
I think this coach would hold its own next to a new SOB. What else are you going to buy in that range?
My only caveat is that we don't know how long ago that resto was. He is using the promo pics from the Cinnabar site. If the seller just completed a US tour with his two neurotic dogs with separation anxiety, and has had no maintenance in the last 20k, all bets are off.

The grease fittings used on the GMC are typically a 1/4in. -28 thread.
