Well, went to the Winternationals, it was nice to see a 76 GMC pulling a sling shot drag car from the early 60s, wow, what a site

Was it Ron Johnson?
recently he posted...
Some of you might find my other hobby activity interesting. I have a couple
of old top fuel dragsters that were pretty prominent in the early 60's.
Actually, mine are all recreations since each of the originals is long gone.
I also have a website that a buddy of mine in Oregon webmasters, it is
www.Cacklefest.com. Since I raced in top fuel back in Minnesota in the
mid-60's I guess whatever I was infected with back then broke out all over
again about 13 years ago after we moved to California in 1997. My cars each
have a "page" on the website as do many other "cackle" cars across the
country. We built this one in 2004,
http://cacklefest.com/Shubert-Herbert.shtml this one in 2007
http://cacklefest.com/Barnstormer.shtml and this one in 2010
http://cacklefest.com/Chizler-V.shtml .
We will have an 8 car display at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona
next weekend with the Barnstormer and Shubert/Herbert as well as a half
dozen cars from the Wally Parks NHRA Museum of Drag Racing. During the year
I take one or more to about one event per month, mostly in California, but
we have been to Arizona a few times and back East 5 or 6 times, most
recently to the 2011 Brainerd MN. NHRA race and then Indy for the NHRA U.S.
Nationals. My 1977 Eleganza will be put into use to be a tow vehicle to
events close to home and be much more period correct than the one I have
been using. I also have a 66 El Camino that I use to tow one car on an open
trailer. Sometimes at racetrack events we do push starts with the El Camino
pushing any of the old guys. Keeps me out of mischief!!!
