I took the mattress out of the back and discovered that I have a rear gaucho and not a permanent bed. I plan to move the gaucho to where the front dinette is now and replace the rear gaucho with a dinette. I need cushions for the gaucho as none came with the GMC when I bought it.
Anybody got some gaucho cushions taking up space they want to get rid of?
The front dinette is only 44" wide and I need one 54" wide for the rear.
Anybody got a rear dinette (frame, cushions, table, and all hardware) that they are looking to get rid of?
Now for the real questions. The fresh water tank is under the gaucho, about centered under the rear window.
Where is the fresh water tank normally located in a 23" model with rear dinette?
Would it be feasible to move the tank I have over to the side, on/around the propane tank compartment, and still have room for the rear dinette?
In other words, are there different sizes and shapes of fresh water tanks, or are they about the same, just located in different areas among models?

Tanks can come in many different sizes. Our Royal had a rear dinett and the water tank was inboard of the propane tank, don't have exact measurements but it was about 4 feet long, about 18" high and about 9" wide.

A,
As far as I know, all the early coaches had the same water tank -- same part number in the book -- and the one in the 26 was the same as the 23.
There are real benefits to the rear gaucho --
the water tank sits across the coach so less weight change side to side at any level of tank fill.
the gaucho offers more overall length as a bed -- especially with a topper, you can have a 76 inch mattress/bed.
How early is your 73?

I think it is S/N 1062. If I have to fabricate a rear dinette, I will make it so the bed is at least 76", since I am about 74" laying down. I slouch/compress when I stand, so not intimidating to anyone.

A,
I was comparing to the original rear dinette set-up. Not sure how it could be modified to make it longer -- but it would require different size cushions to avoid having a gap in the center.
A search for "water tank" on the photo site gives some pretty good views of how the water tank is located parallel to the propane tank on dinette equipped coaches.
Good luck,
Dennis

I think one source here said they were/are all the same, and I think that is 40 gallons. 40 gal fresh water tank, 40 gal black tank. When the fresh water tank is empty, the black tank is full. Drain the black tank, refill the fresh water tank, and get on with your journey.

Aham,

My 23 is a 23-3 floor plan. I have only seen 1 rear dinette and it looked a lot like what I have, but with a table in the middle. I have to believe that his water tank was where mine is - under the starboard settee.

The potable tank I have is roughly 34*17.5*15 (~38gal)

I appreciate the dimensions. I will measure mine and see if it will fit in the same area.

The 78 Royal tank measures W=9" H=16.5"3 L=37.25 which is about 24gal less a little for a recess in one corner of tank. I have the tank out of a 73 23 here in storage and could measure it after a little digging but I think the measurements already given sound about right.
