Northern Tool is having a bucket sale... the bucket is on sale for $2.99 -- and everything you can fit in it is 15% off, including all sale items. Sale ends Feb 11.

Several of those Torin two stage bottle jacks fit in the bucket....with room for more stuff.

I do not believe I have ever seen a Northern Tool Store so I looked it up: <http://www.northerntool.com/stores/>

While there ARE a few stores in the north central US, the distribution of the stores makes me wonder about the name of "Northern."

But I suppose "Northern" could be relative.... Florida IS more "northern" than say... Australia! Twisted Evil

My jack came from the Northern Tool Store in Duluth, Minnesota. Is that far enough north?

Mike,

Don't know the origin of the name -- they are like an upscale Harbor Freight -- large variety of tools, clean store, more name brand merchandise.

They are in Houston.

Their prices are higher than HF but there's more US made stuff in the store.

We do have some stores here in Australia that sell Chinese made stuff but it is WAY more expensive than HF or NF.

It's a matter of 23 million vs 330 million!

Rob M.

They started in Duluth, maybe that's where the name came from. We have 3
NT's in Charlotte to 1 HF. Northern Tool does seem a bit more upscale
than Harbor Freight.

Good friend from the dog world was one of their computer geeks at the home office in Minneapolis - St Paul for some several years.  They consider Homer the Despot and Lowes as their major competition.  They usually ahve a 'harbor freight' version and a decent version of pretty much everything they sell.

Northern Tool also sends out a catalogue periodically. In looking at the map referenced above, I see there is one in Oklahoma City (or just to the South) that might be convenient for those of us heading to the Shawnee GMCMI Convention.

The Oklahom City Northern Tool store is on the south side
access road of I-240 between Penn and Western Avenues.
Very easy access, about 25 miles west of convention site.

I don't even want to think about how much money I have
spent there in the year since it opened! The store is only
about 7 miles from my house and I eat lunch with some ham
radio buddies twice a month at a Golden Corral restaurant
immediately across I-240!

The Harbor Freight store is on the west side of Oklahoma
City, about 7 miles west of downtown.

Dennis,
Our local ACE hardware has something similar once a year. They use a
large paper bag though. I found you can get much more into the bag if you
take the larger items out of the packaging. They grimace, but accept it
graciously!
