That's the exact same unit my GMC has, except that mine works like new. It'll run you out of the coach, in fact. It may be worth a try to see what's wrong with it. It may be something simple, like a bad connection. Those old A/Cs were built to be pretty robust. It may be worth your while to get an A/C tech to check it out.
There's a drug store on the square in Athens, Tx. that uses a water-cooled unit from the 50's that still works. It has a rebuildable cast-iron compressor that has been rebuilt a few times. The water cooling tower was made of cypress & still does the job. Remember, just because it's old don't mean it's worthless. A lot of us would be gone if that were the case...

It was removed for two reasons. First - the CFO wants low profile. Second - it was incredibly noisy, both air flow noise, squealing fan bearings as well as some kind of rattle. The failure may just have been the timing relay or perhaps the starting circuit. However for the reasons listed, primarily the first, it was decided to remove it. The rear 11.5k BTU unit works but it will be removed, also the for the first reason.
