Dwayne,
Should work well, but I do have a couple of comments -- perhaps too late to
be of value: I predict that you'll wish you'd put the ramp on the other
side of the driveway so you can get to the right front wheel. The porch
will be in the way of 'most anything you may want to do on that side.
My ramps are large I-beams laid flat so that the top halves of the flanges
provide side guide rails. Your description sounds as if you plan similar
guides of wood. I wouldn't. I'd just be sure to have someone guide me so
I wouldn't drive off the side. That's because the rail is so often in the
way -- I can't remove a front tire without jacking the coach high enough to
clear the rail. I can turn the wheels only a few degrees each way without
hitting the rail, so I can't do any caster adjustment, etc., on the ramp.
I WOULD retain the the front stops though -- I SURE don't want to stop too
late. :-)

Ken;
The fence line you see is 2foot 8 inches inside my property line. I will
knock off the top of the fence and build an elevated walk along the side.
I have left openings in the ramp in the front and drivers side. This will
allow me to insert 2x6 projecting then lay a plank on top for the times
I need to work on those sides. I will be installing mirrors on the garage
- drivers side and a up front post for the passenger side to help guide me
on and off.
Side rails - I will be adding side rails but will have sections I can
remove once the coach is seated. I had already thought that these would
need to be
removable in certain sections.
I used the treated wood because I can easily work with wood. It also is
the same material I have in my landscaping. IF the City ever says anything
I will
tell them I am building a large planter!!!!! to fit in with my other
landscaping.
The road out front slopes approx 8" from left to right. The way it is now
I might get hung up on the left side rear and if so I'll need to add
another couple inches
to the top layer. Once it drys out up here I will cover the top of the
ramp with a layer of treated Ply then a layer of granulated torch on
roofing. This will
add protection to the wood plus give some grip to the surface.
It is 32 degrees here this morning but I am heading outside to get the
basic ramp finished. Will take more pics.

Should have known you'd planned around all that! :-)
Good idea on the removable side rails. Wish I had such and option but I
wouldn't risk it now because of strength. I just lucked into a CHEAP used
piece of 14" heavy channel exactly the right length to make my two ramps --
like below junkyard value.

The custom car shop on US19, <1mile from here, has one of those out beside
the road for their display cars. Not quite big enough for a GMC, of
course, but that idea. Maybe you subconsciously picked it up as you passed
there. :-)

The majority of the strength of any I-beam, whether it's positioned
vertically or horizontally, comes from its flanges. Removing either of
them, or even drilling a hole in one, significantly reduces its strength.
I don't know enough about the strength of my ramps, nor the load
distribution, to risk such a modification.
I'll just keep using a jack, but thanks for the suggestion.

I saw something like that done before, in a building remodel with a beam
going next to a jack post - extra metal was welded to the exterior of the
remaining flanges to compensate for the loss of the area that had to be
removed to sit next to the post.

Keep in mind the differences between "I-90" and "US19." "I-xx" is an interstate, with "I" numbers lower in the South and West. "US-xx" is part of the old pre-interstate system. "US" numbers are lower in the North and East. Also for both, even numbers are east/west, odd numbers a North/South.
We can also get into the numbering of loops and stuff.... but some places, like Phoenix, do not follow any logical method... including not naming two different highways the same number. (What do you expect from a city where 7th Ave and 7th street run parallel, a few blocks apart!)
