Well finally broke down and ordered the Silvertone mono bag kit from JimK. Can't wait to get them on and see how they work. That poor old air compressor needed a little break.

Less than an hour and they were on. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. I wish I had a dozen projects that were that easy.

Are you saying I'm cheap? Right on!
No actually I wanted something as close to OEM as possible, since I like alot about the stock system, and don't really need the "run without a spare" option that the Q-bag offers.
After getting the old bags off, I see that they aren't really in obviously poor condition, but since I do like sitting under the awning with my head only a foot or so away from the bag, I feel better knowing it's not quite the loaded gun the old one was.
Now it's tire time.

You should be able to make that tire carrier work. Just take a strip of carpet and lay it around the top half of the tire tread.

COMMENTS:
The weight distribution per tire would be dependant on the how much pressure was supplied to the air bag supporting the remaining
tire. For ease of calculations we'll divide the rear GAWR of 8,000 lbs as noted above by four which results in a load per tire of
2,000 lbs. Operating the GMC with one wheel removed the load on the remaining tire would double; going from 2,000 to 4,000 lbs. This
is an overload of 1,765 pounds (~79%) on a D range tire at the maximum pressure of 65 psi and an overload of 1320 pounds (~49%) on
an E load range tire at the maximum pressure of 80 psi. If the tires are not inflated to the pressures noted in the previous
sentence the overload would be even higher.
CONCLUSION:
If you drive your GMC with less than four rear tires supporting the load you WILL be operating the GMC with OVERLOADED TIRE(S) and
OVERLOADED WHEELS!

Here's my experience with a new installed quad bag system. I drove home
approx 1200 miles not giving thought to the bags or tires until I noticed
the front rear on the passenger side showing a lot of wear. First thought
was it was out of alignment until I noticed the rear tire with sides
bulging a lot more than the front rear.
I checked the bags - the rear bag was as hard as a rock while the front bag
had some give. I let it sit for a few days and noticed the rear tire
showing more bulge.
I started the coach and got the compressor working and tested the lines
with soapy water and found one of the alum inserts in the brass fitting had
a split and had been leaking pressure - probably all the way home. I
ordered another fitting only to find it too was cracked. I then bought a
solid brass one - no insert - and it is holding OK. So I had really driven
on 3 rear tires 1500 miles and wore one tire down. So really not too sold
on this system - sorry. I saw the one Sully has developed and think it has
merit. Penney for my thoughts or my 2 cents worth. Looking for the lost
penny.

Dwayne,
I'm confused by your problem: Are you saying the adjacent bags were
inflated differently? If you were running in the normal configuration,
with all 3 ball valves open, the pressure should have been identical in the
bags (except for minor transient variations). You must have had the
automatic leveling disabled by turning the ball valves off. Even with a
leak, both bags should have had the same pressure if not isolated with the
ball valves.
Incidentally, I also had to replace a thread insert early in the life of my
Harrison 4-bag system.

All three valves were open. The fitting that served the front bag was
leaking the middle supply valve and the rear bag valves were ok. The coach
was literly sitting on the rear bag. I replaced that fitting with one that
does not have a shut off. None available locally that I could find. I was
told these parts should be available along with the bags from any truck
supply here in canada. Wrong. I tryed to locate a bag. Best so far was to
get one shipped from quebec.
