Got disc brakes put on the rear at JimK's last week. Only drove from Fremont to Quartzsite, on the 101, but really like them so far.
Alonzo did a great job and picked up on a couple other things that also needed done.

Best modification I think we have done is the rear discs and reaction arm. The more you use your brakes the more you will like them. I knew after driving a coach with rear discs on the front bogie that was our next thing to move up on the list. Some don't agree, and that is ok, but we love the things on the rear. Stops like a car.

I no longer see a single axle disc brake conversion on the Applied GMC website.
Is it still available and at what price?

As the snow is coming down hard today in Chicago, hearing of folks down at Quartsite sounds very nice right now!

Jim Bounds has some info in his Daily Pose about a disc brake conversion that Albert Branscomb has produced. I wonder if JimK may be getting these as well.

It's nice to see folks working on updates for these fine coaches! Now, where's that magic carburator that will get us 30 mpg?

I wonder if the Branscome brakes will work with the reaction arm. I don't have a parking brake now, and I still have drums, but it sure would be nice to update those rear brakes.

It's on the list...

Larry, Al B. and Jim K. work closely together on this stuff. I am sure Al's parking brake will work with the reaction arm when all is said and done. I use the line lock when I need a parking brake and am happy with it. Never leave it locked over a couple of hours. Should I need one longer than that we block a wheel. Anyway, this system should move up of folks' list. I love it as our all time best safety upgrade.

Dan is correct,
Al and I have been exchanging parts drawings and ideas.
We hope to have the much improved parking brake system soon.
John Bush , Rick Flanagan and I have been working on one using a less
expensive unit, in hopes of offering choice.
Compared to the drum system, it will work about the same, while the
Branscom unit will work much better at double the price, but it will
pass any state inspection.
To install a disk on the intermediates only is not too effective. Look
at the brake shoes on the rear. One will find that they all seem to be
doing its share of work.
When we were doing the testing here on weekends, we proved that having
brakes on the intermediate only did not work and that having all
wheels working worked the best.
I'm hoping to have my coach at the convention available to let people
test drive my coach with the Reaction Arm so you can feel what people
at the Western States felt when they test drove Rick Flanagan's coach
with the Reaction arm system.
People were surprised to see how well it was stopping even after
multiple stops and returning with the brakes almost glowing with heat.

Hello All!

If ya'll remember I'm the East of the Rockies winner of the reaction arm system raffle. We installed the system at the 2011 Bean Station Rally, thanks again guys! Pictures of the install are in the GMC Photo Album.

I'm finishing up installing the Alan Branscome Park Brake System on my coach. All is installed, brakes bled in 10 minutes by myself, thanks Jim Humpy for the power bleed system. I'm mounting new tires so it's taking a while to get back on the road.

The Branscome Pbrake System, mechanical pbrake for disk brakes is a well built, upgraded beefy system that does work with the reaction arm system.

I'll be placing pictures of the installtion in the GMC Photo Album.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
