I just talked to Ed Larid. (Who was th owner (back in the 80's) of the Birch with the deep dish wheels often pictured pulling a speed boat.) As he is a full time RV'er, he is thinking of getting a larger motorhome and selling his Royale:

He knows he would get little to nothing as a trade-in and was asking about what it was worth. As it has not been driven much but is being lived in full time, I told him not much in today's market.

It DOES have some unique "features," like molded in fender flares rear trunk and real BULL horns on the hood. (Mostly to tweak his adult kids... I am fairly sure the plastic Alien on the roof is meant to be removed before driving the coach.... )

He says he is also selling his Excalibur.

He has used it as a towd behind his Royale.

Both the coach and car are near New River AZ. While both of these vehicles would require a "special" buyer, if anyone wants his contact info, please PM or eMail me directly.

I could get more pictures and info later in the year. I am not local to the coach but I plan on stopping by New River just before the Saguaro Jetset'ers March rally. (March 15-18, 2012 at the Eagle View RV Resort in Fort McDowell, Arizona. As I am not a SJS member I hope they let me in... I am giving them a good plug! I also am trying to talk Ed into stopping by. It has been something like 20 years from when he was an active member.)

I'd rock it (I wouldn't mind owning it).

Of course it probably is rear bath and I prefer a bed back there and
side bath. Of course, I'd put the bull horns right where they are. :)
I think they are cool.

Sully,

Possibly, however, there is another explanation.

When I went to my first GMCMI Convention in Santa Rosa, CA I watched coaches pull out of the parking lot. The driveway was short and
went into a gutter of a fairly high crowned road. I was really surprised when I watched the rear wheels. To get out of the parking
lot they had to make an immediate right or left turn. As they entered the gutter the top of the middle wheel would move one way (in
or out, I can't remember) while the rear wheel would remain vertical. As the coach moved forward and the middle wheel started going
up the crown the top of the middle wheel would move in the opposite direction. As the coach got parallel to the center line both
wheels straightened up.

I asked someone about this phenomenon and they noted it was normal.

Regards,
Rob M.

Mike,

As a member (and officer) of the GMC Saguaro Jetset, I can assure you that all are welcome. Kathy and I are hosting that rally, although we might not be there real early on the Thursday it starts, sicne we have to drive up from Tucson after work.

PS I'm looking into installing 'bull horns' on the front of our coach, for the same reason. Smile
