Can you PM me the link to that group? I would like to read about them.
What lead me to it? MPPT for sure was the only way to go for me. Why buy panels and not get all the juice I paid for. I did a lot of research. I like that it comes with a remote temp sensor. The price was really good. Plus all the really good ones always had massive heatsinks to cool them. And I wanted one that used the least amt of power which to me would defeat the purpose.
Then it was more of a deduction of what I didn't like. I ruled out ones that were ultra expensive. I researched the chinese ones and saw a lot of really good points on them that made me run the other way. Avoid the WellSee ones and all the ones that look like them. The internal parts are JUNK and no way real MPPT. There was a BZ Products 42 amp made in the USA for $200 ish. And I read a lot of bad about it. But that honestly never affects me to much. I think more people gripe then compliment on the internet. Some people shouldn't have a keyboard and free speech but thats another topic! I saw actually a positive you tube video of the BZ products one that actually made me NOT want it, even though it was being complimented.
I use it for my motorhome. Not a complex install. I don't camp enough to care about having 8 million features. I just wanted a MPPT and a little wiggle room for expansion. The factory rates it at 600 watts, or (6) 100 watt panels. I have (4) but would like (6) at the end of this all. BUT if I opt to add more, it can be used with another Morningstar.

Here is the group info. It's a Yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/12VDC_Power/
and is moderated by the guy who has this site:
http://www.green-trust.org - there are other groups related to 12VDC on
some of the links under Products.
