Hello,

I recently purchased a rear view camera system.
Trying to decide if the monitor replaces the OEM rear view mirror, or keep that and mount monitor on dash.

Also thinking about camera theft !!!!.
With a ladder on the back, it is very easy to get up there and simply unscrew the camera from the mounting plate......

So on that angle, the idea is to make a metal cover, that surrounds the camera, making it impossible to remove, unless you cut the metal cover off totally, to get to the camera screws...

I know some of you guys have rear cameras.

Your experiences please, to help me decide, if i keep the rearview mirror or not.

cheers and beers

I have a wireless camera mounted on the inside of the back window. Don't have to worry about theft nor how to keep the lens clean. I don't have a rear view mirror. The monitor works fine for backing up all the way down to bumper level.

Hello Jim,

You have your camera on the back window, do you get any problems with condensation on the glass????. How did you mount it up there, if you have any pics would be appreciated.

cheers and beers

this is the way I did mine (click on this link)
http://goo.gl/STb0W

- no holes
- switch on and off with lights
- to watch the toad
- disorienting as a rear-view mirror
- no wiring mods

I would not worry about anyone stealing them, only cost about half a
hundred, not worth stealing. ;>)

Mine is mounted about like gene's only on the inside and powered by backup lights. I towed for the first time in 7 years today to the dixielander rally at Lazydays off I-4 in Tampa. Everything worked great but am thinking of gene's light/power switch idea.
Sorry, no pictures. My baby Brownie is out of film Rolling Eyes
