I have started revamping our 76 PB and when I took out the cabinet above the stove the particle board has swollen and deteriorated from moisture thru the range vent. My thoughts was to plug the vent hole to the outside and use the cabinets from the passenger side for above the range. Has anyone else eliminated the range vent and light combo.

We do like the openness of the removed cabinets in the area behind the driver and passenger seats.
