If I recall someone a while ago said they used a foldable bed and put it up in the cockpit across the front seats. I'm thinking of doing this since we have two kids and one always pushed the other off the couch. Any one ever use a bed up there? I'm thinking of a coleman foldable bed. I think if I measured it right it will work.

Several years back, I used a folding cot in the cockpit. I don't recall
the brand, but it consisted of an aluminum tube frame covered in canvas.
The U-shaped legs at each end folded. At the hinged center of the bed,
there was a removable U-shaped leg. I replaced that center leg with two
pieces of aluminum tubing inserted in snug holes in a length of 2x4 to
raise the center to the height of the cockpit seats. For the youngster who
slept on it, it was comfortable.

There's plenty of room in the cockpit for a more sophisticated version of
that arrangement. The width, IIRC, is over 80". With the removable
steering wheel (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRT-2001/) out of the way
and the seats moved all the way to the rear, there's nearly standard single
bed width available.

These are pretty comfortable

I wonder if it would work in the cockpit?

How old/big are the kids.

We just got a cot for our 3 and 4 year old. I have not fit it in the motorhome yet. But I will test it tonight. I would think it would fit.

it is very nice, especially with the cover.

Many moons ago ? someone used a cot with legs like this:

http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_232061_-1?Ntt=cot&Ntk=All

replaced the feet with aluminum or pvc pipes in the legs to raise it above the front seats.

Our kids are 4 and almost 8. They sleep on the couch but by design the end of the couch gives easily and our 8 yr old rolls off Sad I've tried several things to make something on the edge but its a pain. I think the best thing to do is a bed up in the cockpit.

A search of the Forum yielded this: http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net/GMCforum/index.php?t=msg&goto=44672&rid=220&srch=cockpit+bed#msg_44672

Of course the links no longer work but a Google search yielded this: http://www.portablefoldingchairs.com/rio-safari-trail-king-size-ultimate-camp-bed-p-496.html

Looks like it may be the one.

The link is to a google+ site. If you didn't sign up in time, you can never get in. I was late by about 10 min when I tried and haven't ever tried again.
