Hello,
i am having a big problem trying to get the correct Rivet nuts with the correct dimentions for the marker lights on the roof.
Please if anyone has some spare for this application i would gladly buy them from you. Enough for all the lights.
I did buy 100 with the correct screw thread size but they are too loose in the holes.
cheers and beers

You may want to take the ones you have and mix up some epoxy or better yet epoxy and ground fiber glass. Then coat them liberally with the epoxy and install them. Wait 24 hours and they will be in there solid.

Steve,
McMaster-Carr will give you the best selection of different stiles of rivet nuts and stainless screws.
I was able to use a larger size of screws by drilling the marker light holes a tinny bit, and a bigger rivet nut to fit the badly enlarged holes on the caps (and we wander why we have leaks). Epoxi also helped in setting and sealing the rivet nut.
More food for thought.

We stock the inner gasket that the lens need to seal in order for
moisture to be kept out. Without that seal, you'll need to caulk the
lenses to the metal body.
Go to our site and see what gasket I'm mentioning.

I have not heard of rivet nuts before. I can understand the theory ( a
rivet that acts as a nut ) but how does it work - like a molly bolt for
sheet metal?

Mc M-C is a similar story to my local tool supplier at @ $100 for a kit w. tool. The dreaded Harbor F. has a kit for $17. and has held up for over a year of increasing use. I am certainly more happy with this than the POS jacks, stands and tarps purchased there.
http://www.harborfreight.com/45-piece-threaded-insert-riveter-kit-1210.html
West Systems epoxy w. a bit of filler sealed and secured them just like Ken suggested. The old wire holes (big) were also sealed up and new (just big enough ) holes were drilled for new wire location (further back on light) and epoxy sealed too. A drop of blue thd. sealer on the screws and dry as a bone for over a year now, even with the monsoon Florida rains.
I think it will be real helpful in installing mounting points on aluminum ribs for lighting, speakers, etc.

Customer input wasn't very convincing for me on the Hf model.

Steve, do not try and use any mechanical fasteners like rivet nuts. The
most ideal fastener to secure the clearance lights to the roof caps of the
GMC are what is known as a well nut. They come in various sizes to fit the
hole that you already have after you dig out the original moly screws that
the factory used. They are a simple neoprene or rubber plug with a threaded
nut molded into the bottom. They have a lip on top that prevents them from
pulling through the hole. When a hold down screw goes through the clearance
light and engages the well nut screw, the nut is drawn up towards the
clearance light and the rubber body expands creating an absolutely water
tight seal. They are simple, easily installed, fairly inexpensive, widely
available ( Ace Hardware in your home town). I wouldn't use anything else
for that application.

This is what available from MC if you want to try the well nut and
these fill the hole much better.

The rubber well nuts work GREAT and really seal things up. I would definitely
also recommend them !

This would be a great way to secure things to the frame that need a little
isolation. I'll just bet that a few of these in the frame would make my buzzy
fuel pump quiet down.

Steve, I don't know what you call them. I took my old screw with me to the lumberyard. Found these white inserts with threads. Got stainless screws to fit. Drilled the holes out just a tad and popped them in. Enough to do the coach for less than a buck.
If I can find one unused I will take a picture and post.
