I bought this product at Pep Boys fo installation under new carpeting on my cockpit floor. It has a reflective foil backing attatched to one side of a shredded fabric pad.
There are no instructions for installation but I assume that the foil side should go down--towards the heat source.

Any informed opinions as to installation and or effectiveness?

Seems to me that if engine heat has already passed through the engine cover it's too late for the reflective foil to be of much benefit. But, I'm often surprised by things that are counter- intuitive.

Someone please 'splain how this product can work in this application.

Thanks.
