Yes thanks Dan, I just called Matt and he did!
I've never tightened a belt before, I have a metal bar to wide to get in the gap where the shaft is so I tried to prize it against the water pump sheeth but couldn't budge it. Does the PS move straight across horizontal or diagonally?
Any tips to freeing it up?
Thanks

Squealing and starting to smell a little but from what I can see it's just the belt slipping and the alt belt must have been helping it out! Hopefully it won't damage it for me to use for 10 miles?

Be sure all nuts are loose, including pivot bolt. And be very careful where you pry on power steering pump. Should not be a problem if ALL nuts are loose.

From what I've been told and could see its just the one nut just above the PS shaft. Is that the pivot bolt? Or am I missing something, thanks!

On any belt driven accessory, There are AT LEAST two points of attachment the more power being used the more points. IIRC the power steering pump has only TWO attaching points. One is accessed through a hole in the pulley.

I have always had the best luck tightening the belts using a jack and a length of wood. I "jack up" the alternator, PS pump or AC compressor until the belt is a little more than "tight." After tightening the attachment bolts and removing the jack, everything relaxes back... leaving the belts "just right." Just be careful... with this method, it is easy to over-tighten the belts and isn't good for bearings and the like.

I have sent to your email address the cut away drawing from the GMC Parts book. That should help you.
