The bogie arms and carrier bracket are cast iron correct? Not cast steel?

They are nodular iron castings made by Central Foundary. See #339 on my History CD for a copy of an original advertisement.

G'day,

Dave Lenzi cannot repair knuckles that were sleeved. He instructed me to touch the main part of the knuckle and the bearing bore
with a Dremel with a grinding wheel and see what color the sparks were.

He noted to that the cast iron would give off sparks that were reddish and if they had been sleeved with steel the sparks would be
silver blue.

I don't know if cast iron and cast steel would do the same or not but you could give it a try and see what you get.

Regards,
Rob M.
