Another way to see if you have the correct belts on your GMC, is to look
at the pulleys.
if you have the correct width belt, they should look like this.

Now, however you check the width when you buy a belt,

you should be able to visually see if all is ok (good idea to use a
tensioner to get the belt tension correct)
