I finally got around to getting two dozen photos of the Eastern States rally
in Milan, MI posted. They can be seen at --
http://www.gmceast.com/rallies/rallies/fall11_photos.html

The rally was held the weekend after the GMCMI convention in Goshen back in
September.

Paul Deesen, who was a designer at GM, gave an interesting presentation on
his work as a design artist. Paul worked on concept sketches of the GMC
MotorHome and also did designs on Buicks, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and a few
Oldsmobiles before retiring nearly 15 years ago.

Paul also told us that the full-sized clay model of the TZE was the largest
that had ever been done at GMC. He said they had to clean out a nearly
vacant room so they'd have space. Since it was the largest clay model they
had done they didn't know how the clay would behave. The designers/sculptors
found that they had to insert support rods into the form to keep the clay
from sagging. Of course, they made this discovery after working one day and
coming in the next morning to see it drooping out of shape.

With his cooperation, he's sent me a DVD of several scanned images of his
drawings. The size of the images are too large to get into a slide show for
viewing in a browser so they'll all have to be resized. It's my goal to get
about 48 of them posted to a slide show in the next week or so. You'll enjoy
them, I'm sure.
