A most worthwhile way to update the stock system.
For many owners with properly functioning stock air compressors, valves, air lines/fittings and level sensors the stock setup offers a good combination of function and reliability. But, if any of those things are showing their age, the stock system can also be an exercise in frustration trying to find and fix leaks.
The wireless air system controller offers a much simpler (far fewer parts) and seemingly more reliable way to keep your rear ride height set properly while giving a good range of leveling adjustment. I haVe been running for years with just Schrader valves in the ends of my stock air bags. I carried a small 120vac compressor which I ran off of an inverter to air up when I wanted to raise the back end. That set up worked well indeed with but one major flaw - my head and body were always near the air bag while altering the rear height and that is not safe.
I really liked the idea of a wireless air pressure controller which only required one air line from the compressor to the wireless manifolds and one line fro there to each air bag but didn't know what short falls it might bring to the table. I elected to use a 120vac Senco air compressor system complete with air tank both because it was much cheaper than the same output 12vdc units and because these are available in any big box store anywhere in the country. The Senco unit also sit nicely in the same compartment that the original two compressor system and control valves used on my 78 Royale. It as easy to run an ac extension cord from one of my inverters to power the unit. This has proved to be a very worthwhile upgrade.
The wireless manifold is a bit slower than the stock system so it takes a bit longer to dump air when you want to lower the rear but it is as fast to a bit faster than the stock system when you want to raise the rear. The remote can be mounted anywhere in the coach which is convenient and can hold two preprogrammed settings which I use for normal ride height (91psi in my case) and for a dump posture which lowers the ds more than the ps.
When I first installed the system I thought it was bleeding back through the manifold but later found it was leaking throughnone of the Schrader valve extensions instead. It now is virtually leak free and we leave the system activated the whole time we are out. I cannot say enough good abut this upgrade and highly recommend it over a leaky or weal stock system. I do not miss at all the active releveling to accommodate weight shift.
