Switching over to the 16" wheels, I have noticed several styles of wheels other than the Alcoa Aluminum wheels that a lot of people have switched to. What are the specifications for the 16" wheels
My previous owner said that any front wheel on a ford, chevy, or dodge duelly would work.

Not true. Only the "bowl" shaped ones will clear the 80mm calipers, might still require some grinding on the caliper (the "cone" shaped ones will not clear the 80mm calipers, as far as I know). If you have, or ever plan to go to 80mm calipers on the front, get the ones that will clear. This is the shape you want: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=38755&title=after&cat=5701
Also, the hub centered wheels (what you have now, and what most of the rims you will find will be) need a 4-9/16" hub hole to center. That hub hole size is what makes the correct rim hard to find. I think almost everything you find off Fords, Dodges and GMCs now (unless you get lucky early on) will be 4-3/4" or 4-7/8".

It depends on whether you are wanting steel or aluminum wheels.

Lots of different aluminum ones have been used. I have the Eagle hotshot look alike on mine. A few people have used wheels without the big dually offset. The only reason for the offset and hub centering was they were dually wheels and designed to be mounted in pairs. We do not use them that way.

In steel offset ones you need to worry about the dome and clearance problems.

You can go that route with lug centered wheels and save some funds or
go the way of hub centered.
You might compare the Eagles with the hub center as we have then on sale.
We have other brands that are non hub centered.
Data, I do not have them with me, but are similar in dimension to Alcoa,
We also have some Alcoa wheels as well.

I read the original post to mean that the search was for second-hand steel rims. But you are correct that it could mean alloy wheels.
If alloy wheels is the desired direction, it should be pointed out that Jim K. sells them. http://www.appliedgmc.com/level.itml/icOid/489

Jim K. sells just about everything GMC except maybe motor oil and gasoline and he might even have the oil. He does not list everything on his web site.

He should be your first call for something GMC.
Jim Bounds should be the next call.

Bruce,

Actual specifications:
Size 16x6
Circle - 8 - 6.5"
Bolt hole dia .670
Hub bore dia. 4.567
Backspace 8.150
Offset 5.150
Wheel load pounds 2780
Max inflation 95
Fits Chevy 3500 4x4 dual ~ 76 to 95 (not sure about that)

Hub bore is the hard to fit thing.

If you live where things rust, trying to find these wheels is about a lost cause. It has taken me a year to collect enough that with the culls, I will end up with 7 good ones. If you can afford to buy Eagles from JimK, Just do it and get it over with.

Matt

Bruce,
We are so over inventoried with wheels, that we will do better than
the advertised price.
Give me a call (800)752-7502 so we can discuss your needs and see how
serious I am about cutting down our inventory.
There is a difference between stamped out steel wheels vs. machined
aluminum wheels. The women folks always thank me for twisting their
husbands int purchasing the aluminum wheels as they ride smother. I
tell them that I just took the order as I'm too small to twist their
husbands arm.
Sounds like a car dealer.
