I'm trying to help a friend retrieve his family's GMC. It does not run. It will need to be towed. I'm in North Carolina and the GMC is on Vancouver Island where I live. I offered the use of my place to park it until next spring when he can come from Ottawa Ontario and make arrangements to take it home. The question is...I have read several items on the towing of the GMC but I can not find anything. I saw pictures where blocks of wood were used to protect the bumper, etc.
Where can I find this information so I can forward it to him?
Thank you for any help.

Dave,
That picture is 35 years old, cross it out.
Get a tow truck that can lift the front tires and tow it. Lift the
back additional 2" to eliminate the dragging.
Tell the towing you request a tow truck with front wheel lift,
12,000lbs, 26' long,front wheel drive.

If you can find a heavy duty bumper hitch, (U-haul did have them)
you can tow wheels down...I towed one 50 miles without any problems....followed along like a littl puppy...I wouldnt think towing it 10 miles would hurt it anymore than it is...just a thought...
