Hi:

Looking for some input. This project has taken a lot longer than I expected, but it was much more than just the front end.

Other than a few hours with a helper in the beginning, it's been a one man show.

The upgrades are a 3.70 limited slip final drive, a bunch of steering parts from Dave Lenzi, and the kit from Manny (who both deserve sainthood for being patient with my "inner machinist" and questions). When it comes to heavy front end work, sometimes a hammer is exactly the right tool.

I have a few odds and ends to clean up and it will be on the road when the weather clears.

The questions that remain:

1. Brake line routing. No instructions, so I kind of guessed. Your thoughts please.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=41561&title=img-2726&cat=5958

2. There seems to be play between the steering box and the pitman arm. Is that something I can just tighten up the bolt that holds it to the output shaft? Anyone know what size that bolt it (it's not one that I have, so it's something I'll have to acquire)

3. I was going to rough in the alignment with a tape measure to let it settle in, and then do the real alignment next weekend. Will that get it by for some drive time to let it settle in?

Thanks for all the input getting to this point.

Dolph,

I have not done a Hubler conversion -- but here is a photo showing a brake line routing different that what you have done....

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=39149&title=hubler-axle-small-&cat=5487

And the first photo in Karens instructions show a similar rounting.

Dennis

No doubt someone with more knowledge will be along shortly...
Dennis

Thats a pic of my 78 Royale. I used the factory bracket that was on the top ball joint. The brake line can not rub on anything lock to lock or when up down. ,,,,PL

Dolph,
I route the brake hose under the upper arm.
You can twist the metal line so the hose stays under (close) to the arm.
You can drill a small hole on the front lip of the arm for a tiewrap.

Thanks, Manny.

I'll make that change.

BTW, the gravity brake bleeding worked just great!

It's not for those in a hurry, but it was right there.

Gravity. It's not just a great idea, it's the law<G>

The first few installs that I helped with, that's what we did.
The customer drove five miles to the alignment place for a proper alignment.
Now with Jerry W kit, I do a little better but it still needs driving
a few miles.
Once they leave my place, so far no one wanted to come back up. <G>
Alignments have been done at Freeman's.
