A stand alone reader doesn't help when the PDF is embedded into the webpage.

Yes, I know you can dig the location out of the web page code.

I do not think the problem was the PDF, I would suspect the software used to create or post the webpage.... I'm thinking it was a M$ product. (Needlessly requiring a plug-in available only to M$ products.)
