Išve used MotionX GPS Drive. Therešs a version for iPad and one for iPhone.
Currently theyšre offering voice guidance for $9.99 for a year. AT&T wants
$9.99 for a month of voice guidance with their GPS app. There are other free
apps but I think the MotionX is about the best. AAA also has an app that
included mapping in it.

I use 'Google Maps' for GPS.

No cost for the app or the service.

Also worked great on my ipad in Europe.

Google maps are okay, but there is nothing like the turn by turn you get from a proper GPS.

I know TomTom has an app for the iPad, but I'm waiting for Garmin. As I've recounted before, I'm a Garmin fan for life because of they way they treated me when my (then 3.5 year old) GPS died. It was a hard disk based system; a teeny tiny hard disk, and when I crashed the disk and called them to buy a new one they said to send it in. They replaced my GPS no charge.

As I was pulling onto the Bay Bridge the GPS slipped off of the dashboard (I use the bean-bag mount) and the teeny-tiny hard disk crashed. It was totally my fault, and that's what I told Garmin. They would not sell me another hard disk with the maps, but said to send the GPS back to them. They sent me a replacement GPS with the maps on a solid state drive.

Maybe it was their lawyers that made them do it, but then again, I'm a big fan of lawyers. They pay my salary!
