Easy.  Let it sit a few years uncovered under the trees.  Someone will get a 'parts coach' for cheap and they may find out as I did, it's actually mechanically in pretty good shape.

Actually I really wouldn't mind having an Edgemonte. 77" rear twins would be great. Given my lack of mechanical acumen and funds I think I'd have to pass.

According to the seller it has only been sitting a couple of months. Hard to believe given the amount of weeds grown up around it.
Seller is very unrealistic about it's value. He said they are unique and that many have sold for $60,000 or more when I asked him what he is asking for it.
Just thought I would call since I was so close, I case someone is interested I could go and look for them.

There is a Palm Beach sitting on a yard about 20 miles out of town from me, it's
a real mess. Dash is all broken, lots of leaks and rotting, ceiling is falling
down, would be a major project. I stopped and talked to the owner about 2
years ago, he was asking $12,000....... unreal ! Not sure if he ever sold it,
haven't been out that way in a while.

I couldn't get a straight answer out of him. He claims everything works, it just needs a little "TLC". And he wants a fair price. When I asked what a fair price was that was when he told me what they were "going for".
I think he needs a little education on what the current market actually is. I'm out of town for the next few days. I may just plan on stopping by to check it out and talk to him on my way back. Maybe I can get him to see reason., and someone can pick up a parts coach.

it is hard to see so many coaches out there rotting because someone wants big dollars for something that needs big dollars put into it to get it back to workable condition.

there is one north of me that is a wreck, and they want 12k for it. another one out in south dakota sitting rotting away, and they wanted big bucks.

it is a tough reality as to what the cost is to keep one of these motorhomes working, and also tough to convince some people it is still one of the easiest and cheapest motorhomes to keep working.

Understandable, back 'then'. When I first saw my then to be coach sitting on a hill in front of a repair shop, primo ones were selling, in California, for $65,000.00, which I thought the 'for sale' sign stated. When I turned around and saw the sign read $6,500, I thought I had struck Fort Knox. While I did get this coach for $6,250 cash, my reality turned out to be I had to invest another $13,000 to get it road worthy. Now I'd be lucky to get 30 cent for each dollar invested.

Nonetheless, I love my coach and 'think' I'd do it again.

Happy trails,

We're all in the same boat Howard!

When I look at what we paid for ours and how much we have into it, we know
we'll never get that out of it. But we're STILL at about 1/3 the cost of many
of the bigger SOB's.

The best part is we're not afraid to run down mud roads or hit tree branches to
get to the incredible serene places where the big ones can't even think of
going. WELL WORTH THE $$$ to us !!!

I wish it was around the corner from me, I'd at least have a look. I wonder if Dan G is any where near it?
  Norm

Yup, some of these can be sleepers......looks like crap, may run like a charm.
Wonder what $$$ they're trying to get out of it ???

Easy.  Let it sit a few years uncovered under the trees.  Someone will get a
'parts coach' for cheap and they may find out as I did, it's actually
mechanically in pretty good shape.

Familiar story, Howard. The only difference is the numbers. I love my coach too, but every time I think I have it 100% reliable, it reminds me that it's 36 years old! Confused

What do they think it's worth? Look at the growth around the back bumper, looks like 2 years, not 2 months.
  Norm

According to the seller it has only been sitting a couple of months. Hard to believe given the amount of weeds grown up around it.
Seller is very unrealistic about it's value. He said they are unique and that many have sold for $60,000 or more when I asked him what he is asking for it.
Just thought I would call since I was so close, I case someone is interested I could go and look for them.

Marsha,

Please let me know what you find out - I sure would like to put your name in the Registry as a 'finder' again !

Since he claims it has a rear lounge it may not be a real Edgemonte.
The decal doesn't look OEM and it is doubtful it has a 454 engine. If
someone gets the TZE and it starts with TZE266 then an Edgemonte it
is. The 1st (2) confirms it is a twin bed coach and Edgemontes were
the only GM completed twin bed coaches in 76.
