Rob indicated that I had posted in the past how to do this. I can't find my old email but I recall what I have done.

The tie rods and knuckles do not have to be removed.

For the drivers side axle removal remove the shock absorber, jack the lower A frame high enough to pull the
axel from the hub and then turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and pull the axel
out from behind the hub. Then you can pull it straight to the outside.

The passenger side is easier but you have to also remove the hanging bracket.
For passenger side remove the oil filter and unbolt the hanging bracket, position the steering wheel straight ahead, jack up the A frame enough to slide the axle
out of hub by moving inner end to the rear where filter was and pull axel out
through the filter area.

I have done this with both original manifolds and with headers.
