Hey;

I have this new 1-Ton frontend on the coach. Manny said to grease
it up but he didn't recommend a grease to use. I've have been using
Mobile-1, but it seems to have fallen out of grace as the grease to
use. What should I be using? Going camping on Thursday so need to get
it greased up tomorrow. Thanks.

What parts are you greasing? If it is bearings then I recommend Valvoline Synn Power. If it is simple tire rod ends and the like then just about anything will do but I still recommend a grease with MSO2 in it.

The overall consensus winner here is Valvoline Synpower. I remember a thread here where it was the only thing that stoped binding in the steering shaft coupling where Mobil 1 did not.

Gary,

Valvoline Synpower is more than adequate to lube the parts of the front end.

Here's Synpower from Napa @ $6.39 a tube.

http://tinyurl.com/3ul6uvl

https://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?A=VAR985_0006411638&An=0

Here's a link to the product information sheet on Synpower in Gene Fishers photo album:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/data/5141/SynPower_Grease.pdf

As you can see they also recommend it for wheel bearings.

Using this grease will require carrying only one grease gun in your GMC.

Here's a picture of Valvoline Dura Blend in Gene Fishers photo album:

Ken Burton noted that he gets the grease below from Tractor Supply @ $3.19 a tube.

And last but not least none of the moly greases are available Downunder so Bob Cook put me on to Caterpillar Desert Gold which is
sold here.

When I get some time I'll put together a spreadsheet that compares the specs for all these greases.

Rob M.

I've been using Valvoline Special Moly EP grease

http://www.tscstores.com/SPECIAL-MOLY-LITHIUM-GREASE-P1595.aspx

Interestingly its not listed anywhere on the Valvoline web site.

The wheels haven't fallen off yet, even though it says for Ford (and industrial)

I'm gathering all the data I can on various types of grease and I did find this:
