Hi All:
12/110 volt cd players.
We have no radio or TV in our coach. We have been using a 15" Laptop to play DVD movies. This has been fine until lately when we've been missing the music we play at home from tea time to bedtime while talking and reading and not watching TV.
Is there a Music CD player that works on 12V and 110V?
Or should we be considering something else?
We have a lot of CD's and a ton of 33+1/3 vinyls. We do have a machine that can convert LP's to CD.
Thanks for your help.

Play them in your coach's CD player (you can add a switch to power it up when the key is not on)
Rip 'em to an iPod (my favorite)
Rip 'em to a thumb drive
Optical media, in the words of my children, is just "Sooooo 20th century" (and it's a PITA to deal with)

You could convert the LP's to digital using an Ion USB turntable...
http://www.amazon.com/Ion-Audio-Profile-LP-Turntable/dp/B0029QRA1U
There are several models to choose from depending on your needs. There is
even one with a built in CD recorder.
It is still a lot of work... you have to play every LP while recording, then
type in the name and artist of every song since that information is not
available on the analog recording. In the end, your recordings are only as
good as your original vinyl.
I have one of these... and it performs as advertised. I bought it to record
some LP's I had from the 70's that are not available in digital form.

The laptop will play the CD's just like the DVD's. Of course the sound quality won't be great without some better speakers.

I have a similar model Sony, looks much like the one in the pic. The remote can be handy and I have a MiniDisc changer that plays well on it also.
But Your Laptop should be able to play the CD's for you.
If you just need a software player, look on the web, there are plenty for free better yet you look on the web at your manufacturers download support site and get the player that they included with your unit. It should be free. IBM / Lenovo don't charge for support or the downloads.

Jack,
You sure got lots of answers, but none were complete.
There are very few CD plays (boombox type) that are designed for 12 & 120V. If you can find one that can be powered by a plug and 8 batteries, adapting a cigarette lighter plugs would be simple.
I personally would consider upgrading the coach radio and shifting it to the house battery at the same time. I already have, and it has some other benefits as well. If you get one that plays MP3 (most do) them you can use your computer to make up some disks of MP3 that are things like "Road Music", "Quiet Evening" or "Trying not to hear the - Trains, Airplanes or Jakebrakes".
Once you get the LPs turned into CDs, ripping(it is called) them to MP3 is simple. If you want to add title and track data to the CD, that can be done then, but it is a lot of keyboard time.
I carry most of out substantial music library on a single 250G portable drive.
