On page 11 of the instruction booklet which came with the conversion to electric wiper kit, I find an issue which I can not resolve.
"The Violet harness wire should connect to the Purple (or Dark Green) motor wire and the Grey should join the Grey from the motor."
I do NOT have a Grey from the motor. The motor is from a Llumia.
Please someone clarify this for me.
Thanks,

There are two "flavors" of Lumia wiper wiring (up to 95 and 96 on) while otherwise the same, the wire colors are different. The diagram on Page 13 lists both wire colors.... but doesn't seem to match page 11.
I think you might need to go by the pins, not the wire color.
I'll check my notes but they are out in one of the coaches.

Ken does not accept PM and I have no current Phone number.
Mike,
This conflict with the diagram and the page 11 istructions is my issue.
Thanks.

Nick,
I'm sorry you've had trouble contacting me. The cell phone number and email
address on the cover of the manual are correct. I don't use PM. Verizon
for some reason has taken to reporting my phone no longer in service if I
don't pick it up right away; that's probably what happened if you tried to
call me today.
The wiring color code situation is truly confusing -- I get more queries
about it than any other facet of the wiper kit. I'm thinking about
eliminating all color references for the motor wiring and referring only to
the information in Appendix 3. The diagram there of the connector clearly
shows that when looking into the wires side of the connector, with the latch
at the top, the pins are numbered A at upper left, B in the center, C at
upper right, D at the lower left and E at the lower right. The functions
and proper connections of the wires in my harness to those pins is a
follows, as shown beside that diagram:
A -- Washer motor (no wire in my harness; can supply +12VDC TO the washer
motor for Press for Wash & 3 Sweeps function)
B -- Ground (Black)
C -- +12 VDC (IGN or BATT dependent on whether you want the motor to park
after switching off the ignition) (White)
D -- Low speed power (Violet)
E -- High speed power (Grey)
If you can find your connector's colors in the table in Appendix 3, you can
match colors, but there are apparently dozens of color combinations used on
the many GM vehicles which used that connector, thus the confusion.
If this doesn't help, call me again, or send an email to this address.
Thanks for your purchase.

Looking carefully at the wiring instructions that Ken provided me, the simplest solution might be to set the high position on the wiper switch, and trace the 12v from the yellow(white) line, thru the high side of the switch and see what color the 12v shows up on. That would be the lead that would connect to the high speed pin (D) on the Lumina motor. Both sets of wiring diagrams that I have indicate the the wire to (D) pin is either Pink or Purple.
If you have a multimeter, you could connect one lead to the center wire (on the actual wire that is at the bottom of the steering column), and touch the other lead to one of the other two wires, and test for continuity at that wire. If you have the switch turned to high position, and you have continuity, that is the proper color for the wire to attach to pin (D) on the motor.
I do not have a Lumina motor yet, so I cannot help much further.

After review of the diagrams and verifying the the wiring is attached as listed, I still only have HIGH speed. No LOW or intermittent speed. The motor comes to the correct stop position after turning to OFF.
Has anyone else had this happen and if so how was it resolved? The rest is a cakewalk of an install.

NIck,
Of all the Lumina motors I've been exposed to, one had a stripped plastic
gear. The others which gave trouble, whether direct from the junkyard or
"rebuilt", were cured by resoldering the 5 pins of the connector to the PC
board. The procedure's in Appendix 3, in the NOTE: at the end of the
section.

Thanks for all your help.
The problem was in the circuit board connectors to the motor. They were not making good contact. After some cleaning everything works fine.

Nick,
I'm sure glad to hear you found the problem -- as has every other one of my
customers. :-)
I understand there was a GM recall on those PC boards, which are used on
many motors besides the Lumina's. Perhaps I should check whether the
recall's still active; but, the repair is so simple it wouldn't be worth a
trip to a dealer to avoid doing it. :-)
