"My fellow Canadians..."
.....that's about all he ever said that I was interested in, but with that
reference, let me wish all of my Canadian friends and any American citizen
currently in Canada, a very Happy Thanksgiving, and Do try the pumpkin pie

Darn, Mike beat me to it in wishing all the Canadians on here happy thanksgiving. I was going to look up why Canadian Thanksgiving is early October and post that but I'll leave it to the rest to do. I know by U.S. Thanksgiving the "turkeys" are hiding in a lot of places in Canada due to the COLD weather. It was 80 F in Toronto yesterday and was 90 F in Toronto on Thanksgiving in 2007. It has also snowed on Thanksgiving in Toronto. (1 flake counts LOL)

John Diefenbaker was an ass. He killed the AVRO Arrow and threw 12,000
people out of work in one afternoon. The Arrow would have greatly expanded
Canada's aerospace industry. I'm a Canadian.

There was an up side to that. Diefenbaker was a jerk, no doubt about that.
Many of the talented and gifted Canadian aerospace engineers were recruited
by the then new NASA Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs and were an
instrumental and integral part of the US manned lunar program. We couldn't
have met Kennedy's deadline without their help. Greatest time in American
History. We can thank our neighbors to the North for part of it.
Probably had something to do with the GMC too if we search hard enough.

If my history serves me correctly, it was John F. Kennedy who arrived in
Canada and put a Hard squeeze on the Chief !
Perhaps Jim explains the Why.
But to more important things:
Why is a "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

It is an amazing crowd !!
I have been troubled by the following though and wonder if someone has the
answer :
Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny for your
thoughts"? Where's the extra penny going to ?

I participate in a catamaran sailing board similar to this... There is a
thread that started in 2009 titled "Drill, Baby, Drill..." that started off
similar to this one with a slightly off topic but funny series of posts.
It now has over 10,000 replies, 4.5 million views, and is the most active
daily interaction on any post in that forum even today.
Just wanted to get my post in at the beginning in case this rises to that
notoriety.
