A couple of questions...
1. Are they securable, so not stolen while in MacDonalds having lunch somewhere?
2. Has a range of 100 ft. Does that mean that someone else with the same set-up can trigger my lights or vice-versa?

Larry,
I know of nothing that is theft proof.
They look just like the ones that are wired to a plug. We've left them on
the towed for overnight parking and still have them. But, then again, we
don't do Mickydees.
To my knowledge, I've triggered no one elses and vice versa. When I test
them, the coach is out under the RV port and the lights are in the shop with
the door closed so I believe that 100' range is accurate. Probably like
most other wireless devices in that finding two with the exact same
frequency is rare. There are not that many out there and chances of two
with the same frequency being at the same place at the same time is probably
pretty astronomical. At any rate, I don't think that it would matter if
someone else triggered them because following vehicles would think that I'm
just another geezer who forgot to cancel his turn signals.

I have use the 9.99 version for several years with a trailer. Magnets are strong and worked OK. But if you plan to use the coach and toad very much, I like the way Arch just went ahead and wired in the lights. One simple additional wired connecter while your attaching the tow bar.

I have the HF set for $9.99 on sale. I think I can safely say "you get what you pay for" Yes they work....but the magnets are not as strong as they could be. I had them on our 91 Civic while towing. One of them blew loose and we didn't loose it because it was wired to the other. In addition, while the lights are bright enough for night travel or use on a gloomy day, they are sorrily inadequate for bright day time running. Last month while traveling the UP of Michigan with the Lenzi's, Dave noticed that they were quite dim for stop and turn. I can confirm that as I can see the amber side of them in my rear view mirror, and find them to be lacking in brightness. Looking close at them revels low brightness and not enough LED"s to do the job. I removed them and relied on the extra bulbs that I installed in the Civic's tail light assembly to do the job. My simple advice...If you are using them at night, they will work fine, but do not buy them for use in daylight. JWIT

I have a pair of the HF incandescent ones I got for 15 bux, I think. They're not as bright as the taillights, but they're sufficient for people to see. I suspect if I replaced the threads which came with them with real wire, they would be plenty bright. When you put on brakes, all four filaments are grounded throuight what looks like one run of #18 wire that's maybe 25 feet long. Dimness isn't surprising. However, the cost of a hundred feet of decent conductors is prohibitive. I'll 'go low' until I install a switch in the feed to the toad taillights and wire them with some number 12 from the dashboard connector to the hitch on the coach. Meanwhile, anyone who hits the toad has to make it through 23 feet of coach to harm me, and I might have an action for high dollars in the interim. And, all I've loast is a 20 year old non-turbo diesel Jetta which was given me for free. Reasonable risk.

Good info - the link is for the incandescent model and they can be seen during the day. If they weren't bright enough you could
install a higher wattage bulb.
The reason I bought them is because I looked at the pictures Gene has on the PhotoSite showing how to set up a VW light for towing
which looked good. However, the wiring harness in the bug I bought was SERIOUSLY hacked up and I need a new one. For the time being
I can tow the VW using these lights as I want to have it painted and some work done on the interior.
The magnets are weak and I was going to put a flat plate on top of the VW bumper out of the air stream so they wouldn't blow away.

I few years back I made a set of magnetic light to use on my motorcycle carrier. I was afraid they might fall off so I fashioned a couple of hooks out of flat metal like that used in radiator hose clamps. The hooks go over the top of the carrier or in your case the bumper and hold the lights from falling downward.
