What a rally it was! Dave and Donna DeGraffenreid sure know how to make a
rally a memorable experience. This one will go into the books as one of
the best ever!
Now to read through 8 lbs of junk mail, including no less than 5 mailings
from Good Sam, two from AARP, bills, and my new Summit catalog.
After towing our new old Miata for the past 6,000 miles, I have to say that
it has been the best towed vehicle we've owned so far. The whisker strip on
the back of the coach prevented even the smallest of particles from getting
through and making paint chips, and odd tire wear is non-existant. The
wireless, LED tow lights are worth their weight in $$. Unless running with
the lights on, the batteries went over 24 hours per charge. We kept an
extra set of Enloop AA batteries on the charger just in case. I think this
is the way to go. I have done the invasive thing with the diodes, and also
the extra sockets and nothing beats the ease of the wireless units. My wife
backed over one of the units resulting in damage to the magnetic base. The
folks at wireless.com had a new one waiting for us two days later. I
managed to journey repair the busted one with velcro and am keeping it as a
spare.
Life is good!

Marvin Miller of Elkhart Sales and Service is a supplier of wireless tow lights with magnet base and LEDs. He had a show and tell unit at Goshen. Don't know his price and availability, but he can be contacted at:

These are the ones I have:
I have no idea which country they are made in and I notice that they're
catching on. There are more types out there to chose from since I purchased
these. These are very; very bright for following vehicles. I like the
magnetic bases because they grip quite firmly. I don't think I trust
suction cups for this application.

Dan,
My bad: *http://tinyurl.com/4xo7dpe*
*FYI, these units also have a test/operate feature. I have only been able
to run the batteries out once and that was after an 8 hour day of driving,
then driving with the lights on for the next day. Easy to tell when the
batteries are getting low, the "on" light blinks. I like these because
they're extremely bright and because they're transferrable to any towed unit
with enough metal surface to anchor them on.*

Those really low-priced turn signals from Harbor Freight work well, and
they can be seen in your rear view mirror, so you can check them without
going outside the coach.
BUT, the magnets are very weak, and the lights will tip over with just
the slightest brush from overhead vegetation. If you never drive the
tow'd under branches, and don't drive in high winds with heavy rain--no
problem.

A while back I posted this message. On my recommendation, a fellow club
member purchased a set from Ebay that he thought were identical to mine.
At $137.00, his were much less than mine and were close, but not the same.
His did not work on turn signals or 4-way flashers, but worked with the
brake lights. When hooked up to my coach, they worked perfectly in all
modes. After a bit of troubleshooting, we determined that his turn signal
flasher duration was less than mine. Replacing the flasher with a HD unit
made the units work. These are a good deal compared to mine even though I
believe they are knock offs.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a nation where every citizen must prove they have
health insurance......but not everyone has to prove they're a citizen.
