I have seen a lot of comments in the archives re the ram air installations people have done, but I don't find any sketches or pictures to guide newbies along the way.

I am trying to put 4" water heater vent (flexible)on the stock air cleaner housing shorkle. The snorkle has the 4" flair at the end. I am not able to make the bend coming off of the snorkle due to the close proximity to a structural brace. I have tried a hard tin flex elbow and I have tried coming directly off the snorkle with the flexible vent. Neither way allows me to reset the air cleaner housing on the carburetor.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.......

Steve, I am using 3 inch John Deere planter hose. It is plastic and bends around the bracing of the floor, actually going between them and out to the grille where I have my breather. Ken H. is the one who told me what to use when I needed to replace my old tubing, that was tearing because it was some kind of cloth. Not cheap. I paid about 70 bux for an 8 ft section.

Early 90's dodge trucks used 3" & 4" hard plastic flex air tubes that work well as replacements or for custom installs.

If you are thinking that flexible dryer duct material or gas heater vent, it will likely collapse when you open the throttle.
The goal here is not so much ram air as getting a cool charge to the engine. The Jeep snorkle and a remote air cleaner seems to be the way to go.
Just ducting some cooler air to the area of the air intake would help.
