I have some very sad news to share. While traveling back from Santa Barbara last week our GMC had an engine fire and was completely destroyed. There were no indications that anything was wrong. It ran perfectly the whole time we traveled and I always made every effort to make sure that it was running tops and was well maintained, especially because I almost always travel in it with the wife and kids. Thank God it happened without our kids, and after we had stopped for dinner and were off the freeway.

Our GMC was like a member of the family, and will be sorely missed. I had always admired them as a kid, and my wife being a little eccentric herself, agreed to let me buy it, in the hopes that it would give us more opportunities to get away on short notice and spend quality time together as a family. A short time after I brought her home my girls had given our GMC a name. They named him ’Ricky’. I asked them, ‘Why did you name him Ricky?” They explained that it was short for ‘Rickety’. LOL! It wasn’t meant to be a put down, but a term of endearment by them, and a clever play on words!

It saddens me to think that I have to share my TZE number with Dave for the purposes of taking it off the registry. Everyone here in the GMC community, especially the Jim’s on East and West coasts were a huge help to me in the 7 years we owned it. At this point we’re not sure if another GMC or even RV ownership is in our future. For me, the GMC was a dream come true that provided countless memories that my family will treasure. Thank you everyone for the help and advice you provided on this forum. As many have shared, you are all second to none and were a huge factor in my decision to start this journey in the first place.

God bless! The Lee Family
