Received this note from a concerned fan:

====================

Hi,

I hate the idea of a scrapper getting this. I was hoping you could forward
this to the guys you know and maybe a GMC MH fan would get it.

Go to www.gsaauctions.gov. Enter ZE06583 as the search target. The auction
ends on October 5.

It is a 1978 GMC motorhome. It appears to be garaged, at least for the
pictures.

best regards,
Matt

Looks like a good chance for someone local to NYC.

It's a 78.... was the 455 still used then, or was it definitely a 403?

It would be interesting to see what happens. I have tried bidding on
some government stuff and no success. If the price was low enough to
make it worth your while they cancel the sale.

Bdub,

Never mind the GMC check out the Mercedes McLaren SLR! It requires a bid deposit of $47,000. It's got 1110 miles on it! That car
sold for $497,000 new and is current worth between $263,000 and $313,000 according to the Nada guide!

I reckon it would make a pretty snazzy towd! ;-)

Never mind I just did a search by the Lot No. 41QSCI11450001 and I see the current bid is $263,177 which is the reserve the GSA has
put on it. That's still a bargain!

Oh well I can dream can't I!

For the hell of it I'll keep an eye on it and report back.

Regards,
Rob M.

Dolph,

IIRC the change over came sometime in 1977 so unless a PO swapped the engine it would have come with a 455.

Rob M.

Change over was on or about Mar 1, 1977 beginning with TZE167V101285
for GM finished coaches and TZE337V101287 for Transmodes. AFAIK there
is no record for TZExx7V101286

Rob,

Unless changed, as a 78 it would be a 403.
