Arch just contacted me. His coach is sold. Will let new owner announce who he is.

Well after looking for more than two years, I now have a coach.
As has been reported, the interior was flooded and had a couple inches of water in it for a week or ten days. So you know what the GMC particle board looks like. But really only looks bad in a few spots like the refeer wall right at the entrance door.
Somewhere the speedo line probably got wet and rusted together, and it quit working just as we drove off.
Arch had a new alternator installed and they did a very poor job. The pulleys were off alignment by more half a pulley width. So it tore up and threw the belt off a few miles out. Arch had a brand new spare belt on board, installed it. As soon as I turned on the lights, the load tore that belt off too.
So next morning after 4 shops to get the right belt, was able to space it better with some washers and got a cheap Autozone belt on and it worked all the way home.
And the CB shorted out the Digi panel. Other than those, the engine, trans and brakes did ok for the 700 miles trip to TX.
Oh btw, the 9 (nine) year old Michelin LTX's were rock hard and did their usually squirrelly stuff. But performed fine at 65 - 70 mph.
Wow this is a nice coach!! So many nice additions every where you look. Many, many swithes and things to decipher.
After some work to clean her up, I'll see you on the road. Really wanted to get this done before Fleet Week, before Goshen, before Dothan and before Pueblo. But now it's done so I'll be at Amana Colonies, maybe OK. I'm a tee totaller, so won't be able to keep up with Arch's reputation for lemonaide.

Congratulations! Good to know the coach stayed "in the family".
Now begins a new era...post photos as you progress on "making it your own".

Welcome to the group/cult/asylum..
As a person that used to specifically use the hell out of (but actually abuse) old jeeps, I can tell you about the speedo cable.
Simple answer - the bottom half is probably junk.
You may not even be able to get the core out of the housing. If you decide to try, don't waste a lot of time on it. Water gets into the spiral jacket - almost no matter what you do - and corrodes the spring steel (High Carbon) core so that it swells up and increases the friction with the housing until it binds up the cable unravels all those sharp little wires.

Congrats on the coach. I followed Arches we site when he was rebuilding the coach. He put a lot of work and love into that girl.
those old speedo cables never did like getting wet. Nor any of the metal clad cables for that matter, though I can tell you about the plastic clad cables for window units, a much worse experience compared to the miles and time on the GMC Speedo cable.
I found the Speedo was running to slow at higher speeds. This due to tire size changes down the road.
I installed a bicycle cyclometer. I attatched the sensore at the front rear wheel on the driver side. I used a flexy piece of almuinum so if it hit anything it would simply move out of the way. Running the two conductor wire was simple enough. The hardest part was where to place the cyclometer head unit. I made a mount and mounted it without holes in the "antique" dash. I also have a hand held mount that the head can be attached to for the co pilot to watch over. ( you may not like the co pilot telling you that you are going too fast though. )
The cyclometer can be adjusted easily for speed by tire size, gives you a timer, a clock, mileage counter ( for gas fill ups or maintenance ), an alarm, odometer, and some other functions.
Not a bad project, can be helpful for gas filling and all the other stuff. what is nice about this one is it will turn on automagically when it senses the magnet pass by the sensor, or when the GMC is moving.

Arch's great coach was flooded and needs a lot of cleaning up, touching up and rust removing before using. A little too musty to live in just yet.
Having a heck of a time getting it inspected for title transfer.
I do hope to drive it over to Gladewater for the day, probably Fri, just to meet you folks.
