If you love trains you would love being here in Goshen. The rally grounds are right near the train tracks and one goes by about every ten minutes. AND THEY BLOW THEIR HORNS! lol!!!

The primary sailboat "fuel" is either Diesel or gasoline
as surveys show that blowboats average at least 90% of
their in-motion time under power rather than sail!

The fellow in the slip backed up to the tracks is John Lebetski from the Chicago area. Given the noise level and the loss path, he is probably no worse off than the rest of us.
This may be no quieter than the very few KOA's I have experienced, but with the GMC crowd here, it is a really neat place to be. The weather here has been great after the rain blew through.
As to what is being hauled through here by rail:
Tri-levels for hauling cars,
Grain bins,
Numerous colliers - both drop and dump,
Odd runs of assorted cargo, some lumber, but mostly box cars,
and the reason that the freight idles on the siding is that it is holding for the passenger trains that keep roaring through.
They blow for the grade crossing less than I would expect.
For Mac,

Cruisers motor only as required to make schedule (if any) or change batteries as most do not have gensets.
Racers use engines to get to the start if they have to and maybe to come home - not because they are tired of sailing, but because they are worn out (sailracing can be exhausting), or maybe charge batteries on races lasting more than hours.
Very few sailors burn more than 50 gallons of fuel in a season. And this is on the great lakes with very restricted (as far as maneuvering) waters. I have known of coastal boats that were on open moorings to go a season of cruising and racing and never start the engine at all. Many have no engine at all.
Everywhere, powered pleasure boats get run about 50hr/year. That, strangely enough is all the time that they are underway.
Auxiliary Sailboats (those with an engine) may run that or more in engine hours, but are usually underway 200~400hr/yr. Many of those report 6~8 hours underway with no port of call. (They did not GO Anyplace. They just slipped the mooring and went sailing for the day.) But then, a sailor underway under sail is already where he wants to be. If one goes sailing and gets to a port where he is supposed to stop too soon, that can ruin a good day of sailing.

But I had a scrawny tree overhead to provide some shade. That OEM dump hose sure is short had to back in tight to the tree to getter in the hole. On late arrival, Kimberly said "just take anything in back along the 300s as it's wide open" That is was. After I got used to it the vibration from the ground even up thru the air suspension was sort of soothing and I slept pretty well. Just think if it was on a truck chassis! See... added GMC train vibration air isolation feature. Chis has to leave now for her Colorado river trip so back to back with the rally was too tight. Maybe next one she can attend. Always good learning something new and shadowing Dave Lenzi on the front end inspections, we found the flavor of the day was a worn drag link at the relay end and a bad relay lever as well on most coaches inspected. Also found a couple coaches with a not fully seated coupler to lower column connections and misplaced clamps on that joint. Check yours and be sure both sides of the clamp are on the coupler doing what it is supposed to! Can't wait to get the relay lever and drag link in as everything else is tight and the good news is my cams are now centered so I have room to adjust in a litte more caster. Jim Ks Dorman Unifit boots stayed on for the trip and seem to be doing well. Good to see you all again.
