I must be crazy! Right after completing the disc brake/reaction arm installation, I started on the next project, a new fridge. I have posted some pics on the photo site and will update as I complete the project:

I'm also doing a new kitchen counter/sink/stove/backsplash......
WooHoo, nutty as a fruit cake!!!!!!!

Hope so! That was a lot of work!

Carl, nice job; perhaps you've read on here about the number of fires connected with propane reefers, like it's not "if" but "when" it occurs. You may want to check that out.

So George, are you saying I just spent $1500.00 and spent two weekends of work just to eventually burn my coach to the ground?

Mike,
I bought four 4" computer 12vdc fans from Fry's and mounted them just above the fridge access door on Double Trouble, they direct
the air upwards creating air flow. Even though they don't blow on the coils they create enough airflow to keep the fridge working
well even on the hottest days. The fridge cools great with the plain wood lining it came from Avion with now!
I'll take some pictures the next time I'm in the USA.
Regards,
Rob M.

There isn't much space in there. You might have to install a smaller refrigerator.
I have always considered the refrigerator as "outside the coach" and do not see the value of insulating the outside wall/skin of the
coach. Seal and insulate the sides, bottom and any where between this space and the "true insides" of the coach. AND provide the
proper clearances of fire proof material to create the "heat chimney" for the propane refer to "breath" properly.
My guess on the color of the inside skin of the body wouldn't make much, if any, difference.... but for a propane refer, the heat in
the "chimney" is needed to get the air to flow properly.
While I know of the value of a propane refer for dry camping, I really like the brand new all electric compressor refer I installed
in my '73. (And not really used.... bought the '78.) Too bad the larger all electric will not fit in either of my Birch's. :(
I might just get out the saw and put my "wood butcher" skills to use!

Thanks Phil, I was not, but our community is in shock; my son just recently completed 27 years in the NNG and knows all the people.

I double checked the installation manual and the fridge is rated for 'zero clearance' There is no mention of any requirement to use non combustible materials inside the refrigerator compartment. Yes, I have heard of fires from heat absorption refrigerators. In fact, I believe both Norcold and Dometic have had recalls, in the past, over this issue. If it were just a matter of when a fire would occur, rather than if a fire will occur, there would be many fewer RVs on the road. I have had the use of several RVs in the past, that were equipped with propane refrigerators. I have driven them with the propane fridge on for as long as two to four weeks at a time, with no problems. I plan to install an automatic fire suppression system, just in case, just like I have in my generator compartment and my engine compartment. I believe those areas are much more prone to fire than the propane fridge.
Now on to the fridge it's self: I hooked the gas up yesterday evening and fired (oh the irony!!!) it up. I left it running on LPG for a couple of hours. There was not an excessive amount of heat in the burner or flue ares. I could put my hand on the wall next to the burner area and the wall only felt a little warm to the touch. I switched the power (heat) source over to AC and left it on over night. When I checked it this morning, (on the #6 setting) the refrigerator box was just above 30 degrees and the bottle of water I had put in the freezer was frozen solid. My old AC/DC Norcold did NOT cool down that quickly or get that cold. I'm impressed...and I think we will be very happy with the new unit.
