I just put a set of Remflex exhaust gaskets on my '74 Canyonlands. As suspected, both sides had been leaking from
Autozone gaskets with less than 1000 miles on them. While we were at it, we also replaced the donuts on both sides, as we suspected they were also leaking. We installed it all and when we fired it up for testing, the Remflexes were tight...however, both of the donuts were leaking. Both sides are tight to their shoulder bolts with good springs installed. I can't pull them any tighter. Is there some way to get them to seal that I'm missing?

Jess,
I found that the donuts I bought from CarQuest had a larger cross section than ones I got elsewhere. Sorry I don't know what car
parts store "elsewhere was" and I am in Sydney and the donuts are in Humble.
I would suggest you go to a local CarQuest and see what they can supply.

I bought the new donuts from Jim K, so I'm assuming they are the correct size. I'll give him a call in the morning. I wonder if I shortened the spacer a little, like 1/8 inch it might make the contact and still have the flex it needs to keep from ruining the manifolds.

Ok, I get it, a different donut may have a slightly fatter profile to fill the gap. I also like the furnace cement and tapping the things when they're hot. Thanks for the suggestions.
