That's what i thought. glad i asked. i'll handle it before i do any long hot drives...

Greg,

Start soaking the manifold bolts with Aero Kroil several days in advance of trying to remove them. Bottom ends of most of the bolts are accessible in the spark plug recesses.

Greg, my rebuilt engine came with some erosion caused by a exhaust leak. I kept having problems with leaks until I bought some Remflex gaskets from JimK and installed them according to the package instructions (low torque just once). I also installed exhaust manifold bolt locks (http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/763) so the bolts won't come loose due to the low torque and anti-seize I used. I have over 5K miles on since then and still no leaks.

Instead of Kroil I used ATF and acetone mixed 50/50. Worked great.
