I hope no one considers my comments insensitive.
I had known Duane for many years and have met with him on several occasions,
and very recently had discussed a combination of Onan and personal issues
with him......
BUT ...
I have to ask, is there anyone out there who will be able to take over the
maintenance of our Onan generators and will have his ability to repair those
'pesky' circuit boards ?

Mike, there is a fella that just moved from the Phoenix area to So. California that is very knowlegeable on these things. He parks beside us at Quartzsite every winter. Chris bought his Onan from him and likes his work. The fella is not a GMCer but a 5th wheeler guy. He does like the GMCs and I know enjoys the folks he has met. Jerry is his name and I hope he can help us a bit. I have not needed to call on him because I have the stuff that Duane put out. This has been useful in helping me with the minor problems I have had. No one can do what Duane did but we might encourage someone to kinda pick up the ball and run with it. I suspect there are those here that are very capable but may have too much on their plates. I guess "time will tell". We will all miss Mr. Simmons, as we do all of those who have gone on lately.

Jerry is a retired electrical engineer, so perhaps he can step in where Duane left off. Does anyone know Duane's wife personally, and could perhaps obtain all of his docs for archival? I'm sure he has some good notes and schematics, etc.

My onan runs like a hose. Jerry did a good job.

No, I meant hose. As in a garden hose. It runs continuously without any interruption.

I could probably do it as I frequently work on Onans at rallies to help people to get them running properly and I have a good understanding on how to tune them and I have rebuilt control boards in the past. However, Duane had built his own test equipment to plug the boards into and he has developed sources for parts such as relays. If one were to do this is would be necessary to have a lot of Duane's notes and access to his testing devices.

Let's all let Billie rest and gain peace. She has already requested calls be stopped. Zay Brand and I have discussed the problem of disposition of the GMC stuff. As Duane and Billie's long time friends, the Brands will help.
As I remember, after Denny Allens passing there were some hard feelings about parts and tool disposition. Lets not let our love of GMCs mess up the greiving process.

Frank,

Billi is lucky to have friends like you and the Brands and we were lucky to have Duane.

I don't think anybody that gets upset has any reason to, and the only we will hope is that Billi find peace. We will just have to wait until we see a new Onan guy come along.

I agree about the ONAN issues. Please let us all be respectful of the
emotional state that Billie is in right now. Take the time to give her all
the moral support and help her get through this period of grieving. Time
passing will help her cope, but her life is kinda out of whack presently. I
lost Mary on March 6, 2011 and I am just now able to think more than one or
two days ahead. Friends and familly support is critical to the recovery
process. Let's all offer her all the support we can at this time. The Onan
stuff can wait. Emery and I can help with tuning and maintence issues.

Jerry moved to SoCal from Tucson? That's hard to imagine, since he had one of those shops that was so jammed full of stuff my son said "It's like a Noahs Ark of tools. He has two of everything!"

I'm not trying to be smarmy here, but I think it would be best if Mrs Simmons simply had her telephone number disconnected and get a new phone number! She could then give the new number to people of her choosing! K.I.S.S.
