It snuck up on me this time and I almost missed it!
<http://www.picknpull.com/events_and_specials.aspx?View=Detail&ID=2891>
This Friday(yesterday) Sat/Sun/Mon.
I'll be going thru a few of the portland area yards. Anyone want me to look for anything? (I am not REALLY interested in pulling motors or the like.... )
You can check inventory (just what cars are on the lot) on the website. <http://www.picknpull.com/check_inventory.aspx> (My zip is 97124)
As for delivery, in a few weeks, I am going to AZ and southern Cali before the TI rally. (Smaller items, as it is a month long trip.)

Mike, look for Olds 350 and 307 Alternator adjusting brackets. They will
work without modification on the 403 Olds and with some slight mods the 455
also. I will buy all you find.

I do not think there are any JC-4 pumps... But I should be able to get the wiper motor. Getting to you in the south might not be worth it.

From other postings, you might want to check for pre-1988 steel GM dually wheels. There seems to be a lot of people looking for these, but they are too heavy to ship economically.

Somebody needs to put the needed parts on a spreadsheet. I'm here in Panama City with cloudy weather, a few tools and a Men's mall 11 miles from me. Bored out of my mind, but not bored enough to pull a bunch of stuff nobody wants.

I try and pick "trading stock" during a half off sale. I'll see what I can do...
The normal cost at Pick-n-Pull is 19.99 plus 0.99 core charge.
I was looking through my parts to get started on my next project, and noticed that I already have two of the motors. Both already have been tested good.

Paul,
I just went to the Forum Swap Meet and did a search for:
1) "Wanted" = Results 1 - 10 of about 71,700 from gmc.mybirdfeeder.net for wanted
2) "WTB" = Results 1 - 10 of about 2,780 from gmc.mybirdfeeder.net for wtb
I reckon if someone wants something that's the place to put it with the subject title of "Wanted - WTB" followed by whatever they
are looking for. The "wantor" should list the price he expects to pay and what he is willing to pay to ship it. If and when the
"wantor" gets the item he should go back into the message and note that he has gotten it.
A person heading to the Men's Mall could do a search and if he finds something he's willing to try and get contact the "wantor" to
verify he still needs the part and confirm what he's willing to spend.
I know that most of you are going to think this is silly because we're all Mates, BUT here's what happened to me at the Santa Rosa
GMCMI Convention.
I went to the swap meet and found a guy selling a bunch of stuff. One of the items was an OEM master cylinder housing. I figger'd
that would be a good thing to have for The Blue Streak. I picked it up and noticed that there was a rag stuck in the bore. I asked
if the bore was in good shape and was told "perfect, that's why I stuck a rag in there to protect it." I didn't want to question a
nice, grey haired, honest faced old GMCer so I paid him the $15 he wanted. I didn't even barter.
When I got it back to my motel I pulled the rag out and the bore was SERIOUSLY CORRODED!
The next day I showed it to the nice old grey haired GMCer and noted that he must have inadvertently made a mistake. He put his
glasses on, looked at the bore and said; "gee, you're right." He then went to hand it back to me and I told him as far as I was
concerned it wasn't repairable and asked for my $15 back. He refused and said; you can use it as a core when you buy a rebuilt one.
I realized that this guy was a shyster so I took it back and said no more. As I walked out there was a trash barrel and I tossed it
in and that was that. Needless to say I realized that not ALL GMCer's are honorable people!
Regards,
Rob M.

ahamilto wrote on Sun, 04 September 2011 11:38 | ... The kit I am hoping to one day buy from Ken Henderson does not come with the 5-pin connector to the motor. Do the motors you have come with the connectors, or do I still need to ask you to get a connector from the Men's Mall?
|
If you are going to the Men's Mall to get the connector, why not get the motor at the same time?
I got five of them today.... motors WITH connectors. (I always get the connector and as much wire as I can.) I also pulled the left wiper arm.
Besides the wiper motors and arms, today I picked up:
-- 4 of 3 types of "GMC" emblems
-- two "old style" vacuum pumps (not tested yet)
-- a pair of new style taillights (need to be cleaned up)
-- two flip down license holders (to hide macator switches and water/electric connections.)
-- A pair of Dodge pick-up power mirrors with control switch from Dodge mini van. (I think they can mate them to the OEM brackets.)
-- Two plastic latches that MIGHT be what Stick was looking for. (From Mercury Mountaineer, they are dirty and I suspect the wrong color.)
-- A front sidelight from a '77 Hornet that MIGHT work for Bert. (It looks to be the same size but does NOT have the metal trim around the light and the corners are slightly rounded. I think it would look better than OEM on coaches that have had the rib strip removed.)
-- A pair of front blinker lights from a 97 GMC heavy duty van that look like they will mount nicely in the OEM grill. (Freeing up the space under the headlights for fog or driving lights.)
Total price, with 7 core charges: $152.10
Took me 8 hours round trip from the house.
There was a Seville with port fuel injected Olds v8 engine. I thought about pulling all the parts to install it on my 403... but was just to tired.
I'll post a picture or two soon.

Can the "old style" vacuum pumps be installed to provide vacuum to the brake booster if the engine quits the same as the JC-4 model will? If so, is one or more of the ones you picked today for sale? Where can I find instructions for installing it?

Yes, maybe and here:
<http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=4668&cat=3471>
<http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5783>
<http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5783>
The maybe is that I haven't tested them yet. I did blow into them at the pick-n-pull before paying for them, but will need to put power to them. Both are dirty and a bit rusty, but I haven't seen ANY in the yard before so I snatched them up.
BUT....
The project that I had planned for this weekend will come first. New brake booster, replace the old rubber brake lines with JimB's stainless flex brake lines, Vacuum pump (JC4, but as I haven't found a decent electrical connector, maybe... ) and a FULL FLUSH of the brake system with a power bleeder made with Jim H's plate.
I already lost a day....
