Rob, Where can it go? With the pressure that is on it at that point, it would appear to be very stable

On at least one of my prototype torsion bar unloaders, I had that locating
dowel pin bend when the tool was in use, allowing the cross bar to block the
adjustment nut so that the adjuster could not be easily accessed with a
wrench. Subsequent production models now use a larger, stronger alloy with
much more robust welding. I would think that a loose pin would not be OK on
the GMC. I suspect that the tool with the loose pin might work with the late
model GM stuff with a different pork chop location. Just what I suspect, I
have not personally seen one of the loose pin versions except in photos.

I may be wrong about the pin. It looked pretty stout to me and I would have thought that the semi-cylindrical sleeve design would keep the pin in place. The guy who showed it to me hadn't used it yet and I haven't seen him since to find out how it worked out. When I hear from him, I'll report back.

At the end of the day if someone buys one and the movable pin turns out to cause a problem they can weld it solid.
