First, I apologize for interrupting the GMC RV string.
Some months back, I took my 1986 CHEVROLET K10 Custom Delux pickup with a 5.0 Liter engine from storage.

If anything is an example why vehicles must be driven, it was the rusty condition that it was in when I brought it home. It was only stored a few years but it might as well have been a decade.

I have replaced and POR15'd rust like crazy to try to restore some service life back to the truck, yes, I do have an attachment to it. I had to replace both front inner FENDER WELLS as they were metal and rusted through. The replacements look pretty good and was a great improvement to the truck.

But, when I had the Passenger side Inner Wheel Well off, I found the RADIATOR SUPPORT had rusted through, it failed and the radiator had dropped a half inch. This is the ONLY structural body part that is bad and as this truck runs like it was just off the assembly line, well she runs really sweet-hows that? , I have decided to try to find a replacement. It only bolts in so it seems to be a task I might take on. After a few of the GMC projects, this one should fit right in to the craziness, you think?

The Truck has the 4 headlamp system and I may be interested in the bolt mounting system as well, else I will cut the bolts and replace from ACE IS THE PLACE, hardware.

The biggest problem seems to be they will sell the part but they want a fortune for the shipping. I have determined I will not replace this body part until next year, the radiator has been supported around the failure so time is on my side, for once.

If any of you car guys have any places that commonly offer parts at a decent price, I'd appreciate any assistance.

You could answer here, or send me an Email.

Thanks guys, I know this isn't really GMC related so pardon my interuption. Rolling Eyes

Yearone.com is a great source for restoration parts but I don't know anything about their shipping.

There are only two core supports for all Chevy/GMC trucks 81-87----single headlamp(2), or dual headlamp(4)....shouldn't be any trouble to snag one at your local or nearby men's mall(Pull-a-part). If your time's valuable....heck, buy a new aftermarket--they're only $65/75. Keystone, Certifit, Body Panels co.....there's bound to be somebody selling replacement parts nearby....just stop and ask your local body shop who they buy from. Even my local O'Reilly's will sell you replacement sheetmetal!
