This coach supposedly has a 6 speed transmission. Didn't know there was one that would fit the GMC. Does anyone know the person who owns this coach?

Some refer to a switch pitch transmission as a 6 speed.

I am not saying they are wrong... but it isn't.

John,
I think he is saying he has a switch pitch trans.
I believe he is in British Columbia.

Looking at his floor on the front tells me he is basically saying all
3 gears using the standard pitch and the low pitch

My 2001 ford explorer has a 5R55E 5 speed which is really a C6 3 speed with overdrive engaged between 1st and 2nd to add ratios.

it goes:

1
1OD
2
3
3OD

or something like that.

If you change the pitch of the Torque converter, like a SP tranny does, thgen yes, by todays reckoning, it's a 6 speed.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I have had several people try to convince
me that they have a 6 speed and tell me I did not know anything about
a switch pitch.

Well, I was off in geography for sure.
The question now is; the 6speed transmission or a pseudo 6 speed.
I have been wrong on other things, but I'll stick my neck out on this one.
There was a man in Michigan back in 1990 that betted me that there
were protraction units in Tornado's. I offered to purchase all he
could supply.
I'm still waiting, or I must have gotten impatient as we now carry the
Limited Slip units and sell several monthly.

I got one of the 5re55s.  If you count the 'shofts' you get five speeds.  Telling  folks it's an overdrive is lost breath.   They will believe what they will believe.
