figure 59 on page 12-43 of 75-76 m.m.
first i disconnect brake switch as to not induce new problem.
i can put 12vdc on transducer at e/d brown wire and hear selonoid fire. i can also read the 40 ohms across this brown wire from transducer plug and plug at engage switch.
if i put the same 12vdc on brown wire which was removed from brake switch, and i activate engage switch, then shouldnt i also hear coil fire?
i put 12vdc on brown/white wire at engage switch which should be output of engage switch and i also dont hear coil fire.
any help and input is appreciated

Take it out,set it on a concrete floor and hit it with a hammer till it's flat. Very Happy

Then upgrade to a more modern ( read = BETTER ) Cruise system.

Paul,
I have done smiler things to my own units, but for customers i had to
treat it with kid gloves.
We carry the rebuilt transducers that has solved the problems.

Agreed.

That was basically my first suggestion in the other thread. (Just not quite as dramatic.)

Now I should follow my own (and maybe your) advice and install all the parts that I have collected.

Not Jim, but there is a speed switch in the transducer that won't let it engage until above about 30 mph. On the bench or stationary jumping the button or to the engage terminal shouldn't do anything. Jumping 12 volts to the hold terminal bypasses the speed switch.
Found a pic:

Just an update note...those Chrysler stalks in my photo album CAN be used but, need a minor rewiring of the switch. Much easier job than dissecting the Eldo stalks and are a direct bolt on to the cluster switch assembly.I have been meaning to post the info on how to do it,but have been tied up with other projects lately.

It has been a while since I messed around with those CC units and I did not look up the circuit to investigate what you are doing but..

I have found that may of these units fail do to a bad ground. The unit was grounded to the body of the coach while the power is being supplied by the engine and not the house battery. These are two different ground systems. This OEm installation requires the power to flow over two ground straps between the body and the frame and the engine and the frame.

The simple solution to this possible problem is to DISCONNECT the CC ground at the unit and run ground wire to a bolt on the back of the engine right below it. There are a couple of 5/16" or 3/8" threaded holes in the back of the heads. They make a good location to attach the CC ground wire to.

This may not fix your problem but it is a simple job to move the wire and try it.

Lordy, why?  Mine works like a charm.  Rebuilt transducer, new vacuum hoses, set and go.  What more could you want?  There's no magic at all in it, easy to keep it working.

If I do not get far enough down the list of projects, to get the junkyard cruise done before our upcoming trip, I might just try your ground "trick." My current OEM cruise works -- sometimes... but is unreliable.

But, I miss the coast, resume and other features of a "modern" system, so I would still like to upgrade. (Plus I do not like the "controlled vacuum leak" of the OEM system.)

Need to get my new towd ready and my brake lines and booster changed to get to the cruise on the list.

u mentioned c.c ground?
my unit has the 3 wires on it, the 2 from switch and the 3rd which i think goes to idiot light, none of the wires reads to ground, but the case of transducer does. is there another wire for ground? i do know in same area coming from wiring harness is 2 wires that are taped off
thanks bgk

Sir: when test driving and checking cruise for some strange reason on the stock cc when you push the button to set above 30 mph you have to let the button out s l o w l y. On mine anyway.

On mine there was one wire that goes underneath the mounting screw to the body of the coach. It has been a while since I have looked at one. I do not remember exactly where on the CC end is attached on the CC unit.
