mooneshine creek campground, approx 45 minutes south west of asheville, nc.
very peaceful, shaded good. 2 night stay. 39 per night full hook ups with cable.(may be a little high, but first trip, so no first hand comparisons.) Is that a little high? i thought spaces were a little small, (with awning out my spaces was only a foot or 2 outside of it. bath house was a little dated, but very clean.
creek had steady flow of water, like sleeping in heavy rain. many florida tagged cars, but the tennesse and nc people seemed more friendly.
small leak under bathroom sink which led me to turn off water when not using.
i really need to figure out my cruise control.
i kept schraders off and air valves on hold so as not to have to worry about them.
50 miles on parkway coming home, we saw 6500 feet above sea level.
coach ran great coming and going. (slight vibration i think passenger front felt at 65mph or higher. i need to put split shot on throttle cable at pedal. i will also be adding something to top of throttle pedal to assist with hitting trans switch .(i am thinking half inch long piece of heater hose as to simulate switch adjustment.
i need an entry step , overall i would rate the trip a success

Excellent news!

By the way, I love the RAGUSA step that my beloved PO installed. I can't believe it wasn't factory installed. <http://ragusarv.com> or <http://appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/471>

Always good to have reports of a good trip. Especially a first trip.

I also have problems with the cruise. The old tech just doesn't work as advertised much less what i am used to on newer rigs! I have collected what I need for a junkyard upgrade. <http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5553> (Not my album.) I am not a big fan of vacuum operated cruise controls anyway.

The arm to the gas petal bend over time. You might be able to get the throttle adjusted properly by bending the petal arm up. (Just grab arm by the petal and pull on it.)

I unplugged my kick down as the trans. kick downs were sometimes very harsh. One reason a shift kit is not desirable. Your wheel may be in need of balancing but I would look real close at the tire sometimes a vibration is caused by a tire that is starting to delaminate.

I have "fixed' at least 20 of those kick down switches over the years on GMCs. First remove the air cleaner and check that the throttle fully opens when the gas pedal is pressed to the floor. Most do. Then grab the rod at the bottom where the pedal is mounted and pull up on it bending the rod slightly. Now look at the the switch and see if it is in adjustment. If not, bend it again.

I'm convinced that these get bent over the years from people pressing the pedal down past it's limit.

i noticed at carb that with pedal to floor my rear carb butterflies do not open, i can open throttle at carb slightly more to open them, that is why i think split shot at cable at pedal to remove the slight slack.
instead of bending on pedal for better contact to trans switch, the inch long peice of heater hose pulled over end of pedal rod took care of that. i recently replaced my heater hose so i had a small piece, it was nice to have hot water when we arrived at campground,

Brian,

I'm sorry but for the life of me I can't figger out what you've done with the heater hose to fix the problem.

Probably just me!

A picture would help.

i put a one inch long piece of heater hose on the top side of throttle pedal bar. this is the bar that activates the trans switch above the pedal. with my pedal to the floor my switch was not activated. i have seen postings reference to bending on this bar. my bar was touching switch , but not pushing on it. hose on bar would have been the same as wrapping tape around bar,i did not seee an adjustment to bring switch cloase to bar, so hose is bringing bar closer to switch.
