For years I have used US and NATO military ammunition cans for storage of lots of things including tools and ammunition. As an example I have one can with plastic plumbing parts. I have another with copper plumbing fittings, etc. etc. etc.

I use to be able to buy standard .50 cal cans for around $5.00 and "fat .50's for $5.50. I have one smaller .30 cal one that still has a 3.25 sticker on it.

Well now they are going for around $14 to $15 each for excellent condition standard .50 cal ones.

I found a place listing excellent ones for $8.49. There is always a downside. They use UPS and only UPS for shipping so you are going to get ripped off for shipping if you buy them.

A couple of us wanted a few of them so I ordered 6 and the bill including the UPS ripoff UPS shipping came out to $75.00. That still came out to $12.50 each including shipping.

I opened the package today and to my surprise I found that these were new manufacture. The still have the manufacturing cardboard insulators keep the paint from being scratched and the lids packed inside the cans that had never been installed.

So, I'm telling anyone interested that these are available here:

The also have good condition ones for a $1.00 less but you are still going to get ripped off by the same amount for UPS.

They also have sizes other than .50 cal. just look at the left column on the above page.

These are not as cheap as they were a few years back but this is a good price in today's market.
