i keep getting this error notification when i bring up this site. is this a problem on my computer or the web site?

The message I get when I go to the https site is that the certificate is only valid for mynethost.com, and therefore invalid for gmc.mybirdfeeder.net.

That error is definitely caused by a server side configuration issue. I don't know if the https site is supposed to work or not. I assumed that the site is either a virtual host on a shared server, or just has an unconfigured SSL host on a box belonging to mynethost.com.

Do you use the https site regularly?

i don't seem to get the error on https secure sites just on this forum.
what is mynethost.com?

You should never get a certificate message on http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net . You will get one, at least presently, on https://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net (notice http vs https), because the certificate supplied is not correct for gmc.mybirdfeeder.net. It's for mynethost.com, and therefore is invalid in this context.

If you are getting a certificate error on http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net , there is something else going on.

i just got it again while reading your reply. i am on http://gmc.mybirdfeeder.net not the secure site.

the error says:
"www.updatecg.com 443 uses an invalid security certificate"

Are you running Firefox with a browser extension called "Customize Google"?

If so, it might be the source of the issue. I took a quick look at the extension page on Mozilla.org, and it looks to be on the relative up and up. Nothing obviously nefarious.

The updatecg.com domain seems to be controlled by the same people as the official customizegoogle.com domain. They might have switched domains at some point and you might be running an old enough version of the extension that it is trying to use the old domain, which has an expired certificate.

You can disable the extension if you don't want it, or update it if you do. That should solve the problem. I'd guess that the error pops up for any site with a certain kind of google ads, but maybe gmc.mybirdfeeder.net is the only one you frequent.

Or it could be something else entirely. Smile But I'd start there.
